The Center for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services was designed to provide a central location for deaf and hard of hearing students to congregate, study, and receive services. The program included an open resource area (“The Commons”) with computers for student work and an informal study area. Offices for faculty, interpreters, and program specialists are provided at the perimeter. The design is organized around “The Ribbon,” an undulating 4’-8” high partition planned to be constructed of perforated metal panels, with built-in workstations, seating, and check-in desk for student appointments.
